National Nursing Home Week begins on Mother's Day, May 11, 2008 and continues through May 17, 2008.

This provides a great opportunity to consider how your church can minister to those in health care units. A group of people from CE National attended a Focus Over 50 Conference a few years ago presented by Focus on the Family. There the group learned that most people in health care units are very aware that they are at the "end of the line" in their health. This gives a wonderful opportunity for believers to share Christ with them.

How terrible it is for a person to know that his life on this earth is very short, and yet he does not have the assurance that when he dies he'll go to heaven. Why not encourage people in your congregation to "adopt" two or three people in a health care unit? By adopting them they can visit them regularly, show concern, send cards, and share Jesus' love. Take advantage of National Nursing Home Week in your church by having someone give a testimony in a Sunday School class, youth group, or on Sunday morning.

On The Road With Ed

Ed Lewis, Executive Director of CE National, will be traveling East this weekend. On Friday, he'll be at the Day Away in Lancaster, Penn. Then Ed will be joining Grace Church of Willow Valley's missions conference in Lancaster, leading a seminar on Saturday and speaking Sunday morning. On Monday, Ed will visit the Urban Hope Training Center in Philadelphia, Penn.

Next week the Children's Cabinet will be meeting in Chicago during the Conspire Conference, getting ideas for helping churches that need assistance in reaching, teaching, and releasing children to serve the Lord. Ed will be joining them.

Please pray for Ed as he travels many miles, encouraging people along the way.
